For home use, there are two types of chargers – Level 1 and Level 2.
Level 1
Level 1 home chargers are hooked up to a standard 120-volt electrical outlet, but don’t produce a lot of juice for your EV. Level 1 chargers only provide about 5 miles of driving range per hour of charging.
Level 2
Level 2 home chargers are 4x faster than Level 1 chargers and can provide about 25 miles per hour of charge. Drivers with longer commutes or those who just want a faster charge should consider Level 2.
For Commercial Property Owners
For your commercial property, you’ll likely want either Level 2 chargers or a Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) a.k.a. a “Fast Charger”. Fast Charger equipment enables rapid charging that can charge a battery-only EV to 80% in just 20 minutes to 1 hour. (Most plug-in hybrids currently on the market do not work with fast chargers.)
